Job Description

Our client, a large company expert in the engineering industry, are offering an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join their team based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.

This company, a forward-thinking organisation employing people across multiple sites, were established in 1973 and are offering a permanent position for the right candidate to join an existing team of hardworking accounting personnel within their engineering operations.

Objective of the role

To provide administrative and bookkeeping support for the accounting and finance team. Responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day activities.

Job Summary

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday, 0830 to 1700

Responsibilities

The following are a list of responsibilities for this role:

  • Create, manage, commit, receive, and match all purchase orders
  • Review open purchase orders and accuracy checks for month end PO accrual
  • Creditor reports to be reviewed regularly
  • Set up and manage supplier and customer accounts
  • Raise and issue sales invoices
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Processing month end journals, accrual, and prepayments
  • Compiling and maintaining exchange rates
  • Foreign bank transactions and reconciliation
  • Manage and monitor intercompany recharges monthly and raise group sales invoices as required in the relevant region
  • To cover telephone / reception duties as required
  • Support for other regions, to be able to support and assist with processing and systems for other regions and liaise directly with employees in other regions
  • Fixed asset register maintenances and postings
  • Job costing reports and production
  • To assist with developing computer systems including new ERP system
  • Ad-hoc duties to support Financial Controller and Financial Director

Education

  • AAT Qualified desirable (but not essential)
  • Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of accounting packages
  • Solid understanding of financial systems and processes

Experience

  • Experience of Opera / Pegasus and/or similar
  • Previous accounting assistant experience with a proven record
  • Intercompany environment and FX exposure (desirable, not essential)
