Joining The Diverse Employment Team

Interview with Gabby Butt

Joining The Diverse Employment Team

Diverse Employment, Welcome's our newest team member and commercial recruitment consultant, Gabby Butt. Here's what she had to say to our IT & Digital Marketing Manager, Leigh Gillatt.

Leigh: Welcome Gabby, I hear you're settling in really well into your new role with Diverse Employment. Becky Wattam (Temp Recruitment Consultant) and Lindsay Macpherson (Group Managing Director) have been telling me how excited they are to have you on board and are looking forward to working with you!

I'd just like to ask you a few questions so our readers can learn a little more about you.

Leigh: What has been the best thing that’s happened for you so far in 2018?

Gabby: It’s a close call between joining the Diverse team or beginning my career in recruitment!

Leigh: Why did you choose to join Diverse Employment & the Diverse group?

Gabby: Coming from a finance & accountancy based recruitment background I wanted to expand my knowledge across the board and become more involved with business in my hometown of Scunthorpe and surrounding areas, as opposed to just Hull alone. Diverse is on my door-step and has a tight-knit team which I was looking to join.

Leigh: How did you get into recruitment?

Gabby: After spending 8 years in retail I wanted to embark on a challenge, after hearing my friend (also a recruitment consultant) on the phone organising 5 people to go into work at last minute – I decided that this was exactly the buzz/challenge I was looking for!

Leigh: You'll certainly get that experience here at Diverse Employment, the phones are always ringing with requirements and our team are on call 24/7 to deal with situations like this; challenging yes, but as you've already describe, a buzz too!

What potential do you see for recruitment services, specifically in Lincolnshire & Yorkshire?

Gabby: I think partnerships will increase with Agencies & Businesses, employers want the right candidate the first time round, something I strive to achieve in my performance for clients. Working in partnership and developing a long-term relationship with your recruiter will see a better understanding in the culture of your business, your true requirements for specific roles, and a better retention rate.

Leigh: What would be your top tip for temps looking for work in the area currently?

Gabby: Make the best impression in every temporary role you work on. Scunthorpe and the surround areas are a small place and word of mouth can be powerful – positive or negative!

Leigh: What are you looking forward to most over the next 3 months?

Gabby: Providing the best possible service to both client and candidate and also the reaction on the other end of the phone when delivering the good news!

Leigh: What’s your number one vice or guilty pleasure?

Gabby: My taste in music… I love everything from The Supremes to The Clash. Everyone says I was born in the wrong era!
