Job Description

An exciting opportunity to work for an independent local family run steel processing firm based in Scunthorpe, which due to business expansion are looking to recruit a MIG Welder / Fabricator to join their team.

Our client are experienced within their field, offering full structural fabrication services, and are committed to working work for their customer base.

Job Summary

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday, 2pm–10pm Overtime is available and weekend work may be required.


The following are a list of responsibilities for this role:

  • Adhere to the companies Health and Safety Policy
  • To work efficiently and effectively as part of a team
  • Achieve the targets and job standards set out by supervisors / managers
  • To be communicative between supervisors / managers
  • Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work
  • Carry out welding / fabrication on all steel products
  • Complete finesse grinding and welding, removal of splatter and burn marks from welding.


  • Must be numerate and literate


  • Previous welding / fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of various metals and their properties
  • A proven record of MIG work
  • Overhead Crane (desirable)
  • Forklift / Side loader (desirable)
  • Manual handling experience

Desired Skills / Qualities

  • Ability to use workshop hand tools, grinders, OXY cutting and have some band saw experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Ability to use measuring equipment
  • Hardworking
  • Keen to develop and improve your skills
  • Able to work as a team member
  • Ability to organise workload independently and use own initiative
  • Have an eye for detail, and able to work towards daily and weekly production targets
  • Must be physically fit and able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have strong written and spoken English
