We are currently seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our client’s expanding team on a permanent basis. Our client is a global leader in molten metal flow engineering and based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday, 5.30am -6.00pm

  • To provide onsite technical and commercial support throughout the UK and NL
  • Provided advice to internal and external customers in order to deliver growth of the company’s product sales
  • To ensure safe working practices are adhered to in line with current safe systems of work
  • To Carry out regular safety audits and raise and action appropriate SIOs (Safety improvements opportunities)
  • To provided technical sales service and super to customers
  • To work in a professional manner ensuring service is of highest quality and within any agreed time scales
  • Assist in identification, organisation and technical supervision of trails
  • Provide regular and accurate feedback to assist in product development
  • Assist with monitoring and scheduling site stock to meet operational requirements whilst helping to minimise levels of stock held on site
  • Complete all documentation in line with company procedures and follow through to satisfactory closure
  • Ensure orders have all necessary information in accordance with contract review procedures
  • Ensure customer needs are identified and developed into sales opportunities
  • To ensure the company profile is positive and increased within the market place
  • Assist in monitoring sales levels against forecast and budget
  • Assist with performance analysis of cost per tonne contracts and direct sales
  • Communicate with the sales team, customer services and manufacturing sites
  • Communicate regularly with the line manager on business activities and opportunities


  • Valid full EU driving licence or equivalent 1
  • A good general knowledge of the iron and steel business and refractory competition
  • Proficient in using ICT equipment and systems, particularly Microsoft office programmes
  • Technical qualification (HNC or equivalent) preferred, but qualification by experience accepted


  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in technical support of refractory product categories, preferably with a sales bias

  • Team player; ability to effectively communicate and work together with people in a matrix environment
  • Self-Starter; able to work independently without extensive supervision
  • Must be willing and able to travel with occasional nights away
