Job Description

Exciting opportunity to work for the UK's largest logistics service provider, offering numerous Warehouse Operatives positions within their facility based in CHESTERFIELD.

You will be joining a team of operatives within the ambient and chilled warehousing areas to support in the daily distribution of pallets. Primarily picking orders under instruction in a precise manner, maintaining a clean safe environment inside the warehousing picking area.

You will be enthusiastic, energetic, motivated and hard working with excellent time keeping skills who enjoys working as part of a team as well as organised. This role will suit you if you are keen to maintain high standards and keen to hit deadlines/targets.

Salary: £8.35 per hour, overtime £12.31 per hour + Additional Attendance Allowance, days £22 per week and Nights £55 per week.

Job Summary

Hours of Work

  • Static nights (Sunday to Tuesday incl.) 1800 to 0600 (36 hours)
  • Static nights (Wednesday to Friday incl.) 1800 to 0600 (36 hours)
  • Days (3 on, 3 off, rotating shift pattern) 0600 to 1800 (36 hours)

Responsibilities

The following are a list of responsibilities for the Warehouse Operatives jobs in Chesterfield :

  • You will be required to pick all cartons stated on the picking notes or instructed by Voice on your Bluetooth headset
  • Stack and wrap the stock so it will be safe and damage free in transit.
  • Check quantities to be picked
  • Input the check digits on the picking notes, or provide to Voice the check digit, to achieve exact products picked
  • Picking notes to be completed correctly
  • Ensure picked pallet quantities are recorded on the picking notes
  • Ensure the correct pallet ID labels are printed and attached to the completed pallets, being sure the label is easily recognisable to prevent confusion to another member of staff
  • Report to the team leader all visual discrepancies such as damaged cartons, damage or dangerous working conditions in all designated picking areas and any stock identified in the wrong picking locations
  • Ensure that all goods are stacked on good quality standard pallets
  • Check you are using the correct type of pallet that match any specific customer requirement
  • Be sure the pallet is stacked securely within the confines of the pallet to prevent goods falling when in transit
  • Follow the set-out procedures when using the voice system
  • Completed orders must be parked in the marshalling area and the correct storage location recorded on the voice of picking note
  • Follow all company procedures relating to the department and maintain a safe and efficient picking environment.
  • Monitor Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to ensure the proper and necessary care and attention is applied when using them, and that pre-shift inspections are carried out before use.
  • Report all defects and damage to your line manager

Education

  • Forklift licence – Reach truck (accredited or in-house) is an advantage
  • Driving licence may be beneficial due to the locality of this work

Experience

  • Previous warehousing / picking / handballing experience
  • Practical working experience in cold room operations
  • Experience of ambient and chilled produce
  • Have a good work record and above average attendance
  • Previous experience of working within a cold store and/or similar (DESIRABLE))
